Design architecture in a unique remote setting

Contemporary Log House

Your luxury escape 2h away from Bucharest
With a definite contemporary design from American Architect Jim Ruscitto, the Lodge mixes 3 elements: large windows opened to the valley, massive logs sustaining the structure and dry stone walls.
Huge logs from the pine/timber forests of Northern Romania, stones from the French Alps, slate from Norway… all are noble, and in the same time authentic materials. The architecture aims for simplicity and sophistication.

The Lodge sits on over 1,200sqm. There are 4 main sections:
  • The guest rooms area, with 3 double rooms and 2 family suites
  • The common space with 2 fire places, large living room, reading corner, dining for up to 15 people, large kitchen and terrace overlooking the Estate with a barbecue facility
  • Kid corner: toys, game, table tennis , mini-football
  • The spa area with a 22m indoor pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna, asteam bath and a gym

The Farm, its gardens and bee hives

Organic production right at the Estate
From the beginning, our goal has been to produce organic products from the Estate from cattle to vegetables, fruits and honey.

We replanted a new orchard with peach, apricot, pear, plum, cherry, apple and quince trees, facing South. Our production is turned into jams and guests will enjoy fresh products at the Lodge’s table in summer.

Lucian and Monica take care of the vegetables garden and the large field of strawberries and raspberries. Every year, they try different seeds to find the most appropriate to our high elevation (+600m).

To support the local ecosystem, 13 beehives have been brought to the Estate back in 2010. Accordingly to the flowerings, we collect light color honey with a sweet smell of linden, honey with the powerful scent of gardenias, or a subtle honey when purple vetches cover the meadow.

Visit to the beehives and the garden are encouraged!

The Lakes

Enjoy our waters
Pumped from deep below ground (-85m) in a complete virgin area, our drinking water is extremely pure and rich in minerals (magnesium namely).

A natural spring on the property also fills in the 2 lakes.

Their water is very clear so you can always dive in to refresh as an alternative to the pool!

Relax by the docks or on the small island…

Observe the deer coming early morning to water at the shore…

After passing in front of Ciolan Monastery and its famous “Tabere de sculptura” (sculpture field), the road continues through linden tree forests. You then leave the main road and enter a private single lane road that winds up through old-growth forests that eventually gives way to a spectacular view of the Carpathian Estate.
Located on a former orchard of 10 hectares, the Estate faces the Buzau valley with views that stretch up to Sarata Monteroru, famous for its springs.
The Estate was acquired in 2008 and construction took 3 years. The Lodge was designed by renowned American Architect Jim Ruscitto from Sun Valley, USA, who specializes in deluxe contemporary log houses. The execution and local adaptation has been carefully handled by Romanian Architect Sergiu Petrea from Tecto Arhitectura
The Estate also features a farm, 2 lakes, a newly-planted orchard, an extensive vegetable garden and green-house and a field of strawberries and raspberries.
